CarNayo was operating Kinshasa's growing ride-hailing demand entirely by hand. Without a mobile app, the business relied on phone calls and a single WhatsApp number to match riders with drivers. Dispatchers manually coordinated every trip, drivers had no visibility into incoming requests, and customers had no way to track their ride or pay digitally. The company was running a modern mobility business with 1990s infrastructure—and it was reaching a breaking point.
Manual Ride Matching: Every booking required a human dispatcher to receive the request, find an available driver, communicate pickup details, and confirm the trip—all via phone calls and WhatsApp messages. This process was slow, error-prone, and impossible to scale during peak hours.
The Single WhatsApp Bottleneck: All customer communication funneled through one WhatsApp number on one phone. During busy periods, messages piled up, response times collapsed, and potential customers gave up. There was no way to have multiple agents handling inquiries simultaneously.
Obsolete Dashboard: The existing admin system was a relic—no real-time visibility into driver locations, no automated dispatch logic, no trip analytics. Management was flying blind, making decisions based on gut feel rather than data.
Zero Rider Visibility: Once a ride was booked, customers had no idea where their driver was or when they would arrive. They waited anxiously, called repeatedly to check status, and sometimes got stood up with no explanation.
We executed a complete digital transformation of CarNayo's operations—building an integrated ecosystem of mobile applications and web dashboards that automated the entire ride-hailing workflow from booking to payment. We didn't just digitize their existing process; we re-architected their business for scale.
Rider App with Real-Time Tracking
We built a native mobile application that puts the entire booking experience in the rider's hands. Customers can request a ride in seconds, see available drivers nearby, get upfront fare estimates, and watch their assigned driver approach in real-time on an interactive map. No more calling to ask "where is my driver?"—the answer is always on screen.
Integrated Mobile Money Payments
We eliminated the cash problem by integrating directly with local mobile money providers. Riders can pay seamlessly through the app using M-Pesa, Orange Money, or Airtel Money. Fares are calculated automatically, payments are processed instantly, and both riders and drivers get digital receipts. No more fumbling for change or disputes over fare amounts.
Driver App with Smart Navigation
Drivers received their own dedicated application that transforms how they work. Incoming ride requests appear instantly with pickup location, destination, and estimated fare—drivers can accept or decline with one tap. Once accepted, the built-in navigation system provides turn-by-turn directions to both the pickup point and final destination. Drivers always know exactly where to go, even in unfamiliar neighborhoods.
Automated Admin Dashboard
We replaced the obsolete backend with a modern command center. The new dashboard shows every active driver on a live map, automatically matches ride requests to the nearest available driver, tracks trip status in real-time, and generates comprehensive analytics on rides, revenue, and driver performance. What used to require a team of dispatchers now happens automatically.
WhatsApp Business Dashboard
For customers who still prefer WhatsApp, we built a multi-agent support dashboard. Multiple team members can now respond to inquiries simultaneously from the same business number. Conversations are tracked, assigned, and archived—ensuring no customer message falls through the cracks and enabling management to monitor service quality.
